How it works

How it works

Commissioning a piece from El Nogal takes five steps: we talk through your idea, design it and send a firm quote, build it by hand, finish it, and deliver it ready for install. Most pieces are ready in six to ten weeks, and a deposit starts the work.

Step by step
  1. 01

    Talk it through

Tell us what you want to create: the room, the piece, the wood, and how you’ll use it. Bring a sketch or a reference if you have one. This is where we understand the piece before anything is drawn.

  2. 02

    Design and firm quote

We design the piece to your space and send a firm quote, with the price and timeline spelled out. A deposit starts the work, and it’s non-refundable, because your slot and materials are reserved the moment we begin.

  3. 03

    Build by hand

Gio builds the piece himself in the workshop, choosing and cutting the wood and joining it to last. Most pieces are ready in six to ten weeks from this point.

  4. 04

    Finish by hand

Every piece is finished by hand, in the finish that suits the wood and the way you’ll use it, so the grain shows and the surface holds up.

  5. 05

    Deliver and hand off

We deliver the finished piece to your home. For built-ins, we deliver ready for your contractor to install.

Common questions
How long does a commission take?
Most pieces are ready in six to ten weeks from the time your quote is approved and work begins. Your quote includes a firm timeline for your specific piece.
Do you take a deposit?
Yes. A deposit begins the work once your quote is out, and it’s non-refundable, since your build slot and materials are reserved when we start.
What do I need to get started?
Just an idea and your space. Tell us the piece and the room, and we’ll take it from there. A sketch or reference photo helps, but isn’t required.
