What we make
El Nogal Carpentry offers four made-to-measure services: custom furniture, furniture-grade built-ins, personalized wood pieces, and hand-rubbed wood finishing. Each one is built by hand by Giovani Ortega in Olney, Maryland, and shaped for a single home across the DMV.

See our work →- Which service do I need?
- If you want a standalone piece like a table or cabinet, that’s custom furniture. If you want fitted storage built to furniture standard, that’s built-ins. Smaller items are personalized pieces, and we can refinish wood you already own. Not sure? Tell us the piece and we’ll point you right.
- How much do these cost?
- Custom furniture typically runs $2,000 to $8,000 or more, and smaller personalized pieces start at $250. Built-in pieces are quoted per project. Every job is priced individually.
- Who builds them?
- Giovani Ortega builds every piece himself, by hand, in the workshop.
Every piece El Nogal makes is built by Giovani Ortega, a carpenter with more than twenty years at the bench. His sons Chris and David run the office and client side. El Nogal is licensed in Maryland.
